Rice Soup with Prawns recipe
(Khao tom goong)
This dish is a very simple, plain dish and is often eaten Thai people for breakfast.
People who are ill and need plain food will also eat this dish although the smell of the galic may be a bit off-putting if you are not used to it. It can also be made with chick, fish, or squid. You can also break and egg into ti while it is still hot.
Ingredient
1 cups (5 oz) prawns – peeled and diveined
2 cups (1 lb oz) precooked rice
3 tablespoons light soy sauce
3 cups, (24 fl oz) chicken stock, fish stock or water
1 talblespoons ground pepper
1 teaspoon pockled radish root – chopped
1 teaspoon crispy, fried garlic – chopped
Preparation
Put the stock into a pan and bring to the boil.
Then add the precooked rice and boil for 2 minutes.
Add the salt, light soy sauce, pepper and prawns and simmer for 1 minute.
Turn oof the heat and garnish with the pockled radish root and crispy fried garlic.
